This campaign - With Faith and Strength to Dare - is not about the future. Rather it is the future, our future as a university. The way I see it, universities cannot stand still. They either move forward or they fall back. And Saint Joseph's University is not falling back. In fact, this institution has been on the move for a long time. We have history to stand on, academic excellence to stand on, and an inspiring Jesuit mission to stand on. The breadth of what we offer, in terms of intellectual growth, character development, and a commitment to social justice, is incredibly compelling. I believe all alumni and friends of the University should feel responsible for ensuring we continue on this path.
And what better moment than now, when the Maguire Campus acquisition is a reality, when we have such exceptional students and faculty, and when our train - metaphorically speaking - has already left the station? I encourage everyone who has ever loved this place, learned at this place, believed in the Jesuit ideals that enrich every experience at this place to get on board and be part of this incredible opportunity.
